sirocco-genesis is an interactive graphic user interface for model pre/post-processing (structured and unstructured grids) and database editing. It has basics Geographical Information System capabilities linked with numerical models pre/post-processing utilities. The most useful sections allows you to:
- build quality structured/unstructured meshes from scratch (automated processing and interactive editing)
- display many popular netcdf gridded database in their geographical context (MERCATOR-Ocean, Symphonie, ROMS, MARS, WW3, ECMWF, WRF, …):
- layer display
- vertical profiles and sections
- horizontal sections
- time series etc…
- display/edit shorelines and ocean bathymetry dataset
- create quality printing files (true postscript, GIF, JPEG, etc…)
- and many other things…
Download
sirocco-genesis software distribution is based on automake tools. New releases are routinely produced to fit users needs and fix bugs.
6.0 suite (obsolete) : last 6.0 version (6.0.30, 06/04/2012) is available here. See instructions if your are not familiar with automake installation. Version 6.0 is now obsolete !!!
6.1 suite : continuing genesis developments within the 6.1 suite, latest version release (6.1.6, 02/07/2013) is available here. Installation instruction are similar to those of version 6.0.
Installation
A user guide for installation is available here.
Minimal dataset for a quick start
In case you are going through your first sirocco-genesis installation, you probably need to download a minimal database (color files, shorelines, bathymetry…) to start playing with the graphical interface here.It is really minimalist to keep small and easy to download, we can provide much more on demand.
- download miceo-genesis.tar.gz file
- gunzip tar archive
- execute : export GENESIS=MY_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY (see installation instructions)
- create a $GENESIS/data
- copy micro-genesis content into a $GENESIS/data
- execute : xscan -s $GENESIS/data/startup/sirocco.startup
Documentation
the painful side of the story… We are now feeding the user manual and documentation pages, but the way is long…
